In my sophomore year, I took a course on Russian Politics. During the course, one of the assignments was to discuss how Russia has followed the path of an autocracy, despite their claims of being a democracy. I focused on laws and actions taken by the Russian government and leaders since the 1990s that have highlighted the autocratic nature of the Russian state from Boris Yeltsin to Vladimir Putin.
