In my first year, I took an elective course on the American Presidency. The course explored the history of the US Presidency, digging into the specifics of each president, but more specifically focusing on the office itself and how it has evolved since the founding of the nation. One of the papers was an exploration of the motivations that shaped the office of the presidency during the founding of the nation. The paper explored the fears and concerns the Founding Fathers had when drafting the Constitution from their experiences under the British Monarchy and the failed Articles of Confederation.
